As I walk through the halls of Groves, I am amazed by the cultural diversity that is around every corner. It is difficult not to notice the different groups around school, whether they be African Americans, Caucasian or Asian. While the ethnic groups do interact, I still feel as if Groves is a salad bowl. People are, for the most part, proud of their heritage and thus want to keep their traditions alive and seperate from others. These cultures do not mix together like they would in a melting pot they stay sperate. Even though they are seperate they still interact and co exist, usually peacefully.

Coincidentally, I am also a member of Groves. I experience many of the same observations as displayed in this blog post. I see many people of the same race/culture huddling together in the hallway. Mainly this phenomena is exhibited by the African American students. People such as myself attepmt to integrate with other races and cultures; some are successful, some are not. I believe that it depends on the personality of the student: they may be willing to integrate or they may just be closed minded.
ReplyDeleteBeing a member of Groves Highschool, I also see many different ethnic groups interacting. Although, sometimes I see one ethnic group interacting all together. It really depends on what one idividuals thinking and personality is, than ones cultural ethnicity. I do have to agree with Sam that some students are closeminded and only see the outer shell of a person, not who they are on the inside. That really is what counts in a relationship, friendship or more.
